The show, created by Chester Lauck and Norris Goff, and modelled on life in the small town of Waters, Arkansas near where they grew up, was immensely popular, and Waters changed its name to Pine Ridge in 1936, after the fictional town in the show. Lauck and Goff had known each other since childhood and attended the University of Arkansas together (joining the Sigma Chi Fraternity together while there). They performed locally and established a blackface act which led to an audition at radio station KTHS in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Prior to the audition, the two men decided to change their act and portray two hillbillies, since there was already an overabundance of blackface acts at the time. After only a few shows in Hot Springs, they were picked up nationally by NBC, and Lum and Abner, sponsored by Quaker Oats, ran until 1932. Lauck and Goff performed several different characters, modeling many of them after real-life residents of Waters, Arkansas. After the Quaker contract expired, Lauck and Goff continued to broadcast over two Texas stations, WBAP (Fort Worth) and WFAA (Dallas). In 1933, The Ford Dealers of America became their sponsor for approximately a year. Add about 3 tbs vegetable oil to the heated pan. 6. Put the green onion on the pan parallel to each other, in the shape of a rectangle. 7. Pour the batter over the green onion evenly. *tip: If you want some seafood (chopped squid, mussels or fresh oysters) in your pancake add it on top of the green onion before pouring the batter. 8. Is this computer trade worth it? (Windows to Mac OS X)?

I am trying to sell my desktop to buy a laptop because I am constantly on the move now. My friend’s dad offered to trade his macbook for my desktop. The macbook looks nice, but I have no clue how to use OS X. I am a Windows guy. I love Windows. I love how you can do anything to it. The macbook is 2 years old. All I know is it has OS X 6.8, 2 GB of RAM, and a 2.4 GhZ processor. Here are the specs/items for my HP slimline desktop.

-4GB RAM
-2.7 GhZ Intel dual core processor
-Intel HD graphics (1.5GB)
-1TB hardrive (7,200 rpm)
-6 USB ports
-one VGA and one DVI port
-DVD/CD combo drive
-media card slot
-19 inch Dynex screen (It is a TV screen. It looks nice, tho)
-Wi-Fi adapter
-2 logitech speakers
-Realtek HD audio sound card
-Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I love my desktop and the power it delivers, but i need laptop for my needs. I wanted to sell this for 550 dollars to buy an HP laptop, but nobody will buy it. Do you think this trade will be worth it? Also, remember I am not familiar with OS X, and not having the ability to right click lol.

There’s usually an alternative for something from one system to another, so right clicking translates to something else on OS X (can’t remember, is it click-hold?).

That said, I don’t understand the appeal of a Mac. I’ve used my dad’s some, and while it *looks* nice, so does Windows 7 and the Dock is not as easy or intuitive as the Windows task bar. I love the new “pinning” feature on Windows, too.

As a programmer, though, I do love that OS X is built on a Unix-derivative file system, and it certainly doesn’t seem to have the bugs that used to be so common on Macs (remember “Error type 11″?)
